　　Cashmere goats, a kind of goats mainly lives in the high and dry plateaus that stretch from Northern China to Mongolia, surrounding the Gobi Desert. In order to survive, these goats have coarse that repels the bad weather. Beneath that coat lies a much fine fiber which insulates these animals from the frigid climate. The finer fiber is called cashmere. There are not many the cashmere goats in the harsh environment

　　Because they live in the high and plateaus surrounding the Gobi Desert. It is highest standard for the collection and processing of cashmere, as spring comes, and before the goat begins to moult , the thin cashmere were combed down with combs by husbandman. The fiber is collected by hands , treated to dust and then gently washed. Only after washing and hair has been removed, by which time may be reduce in weight by as much as 50%,is the cashmere deemed top quality. Each cashmere goat only produces about 50-80 grams washed cashmere fiber annually. The annual amount of cashmere produced is between 12,000tons all over the world. Cashmere produced in China accounts for about 70% of the world.

　　Cashmere is the most fine, soft and luxurious natural fiber in the world. The valueless of the cashmere are not only for its rarity but also for the cashmere products are beyond the reach of the products woven by other fibers, which was praised as “diamond fiber” by the world.
For the Roman Empire only royalty could afford to indulge in the pleasures of cashmere. Napoleon started a fad for cashmere shawls when he gave his second Empress Eugenie, seventeenth of them. A celebrated “ ring shawl” of style, Empress Eugenie who made cashmere fashionable Legend has it that her shawls were they could be drawn through a ring.
